Les Eyzies

The world Capitol of Prehistoric times with only 800 inhabitants!

Le Pech Charmant is just 2 km from the village “Les Eyzies”, which is world famous for the  discovery of its numerous caves with prehistoric paintings, such as the well-known cave “Le font de Gaume”. In addition the first skeletons of our ancestors, the Cro-Magnon, were found here as well. Within the region there are various prehistoric settlements to be visited.

For those who are interested in medieval towns (Sarlat 17 km), abbeys and castles, the Dordogne has much to offer. It has the greatest number of castles in France, with over a thousand.

People who don’t want to let the grass grow under their feet, find all of their needs catered for by the river “Vézčre”, running through “Les Eyzies” or on the “Grande-Randonnée”, that runs adjacent to the campsite.
There are many possibilities for watersporters and anglers.
