We discovered the joys of roaming around with a donkey
when we were on holiday in the Pyrenees with our two children. We noticed
that more and more people have taken the opportunity to make an excursion
with our donkey Nanette. So in 2004 we decided to increase the number of
donkeys in our team.
This turned out to be a great success as many families discovered the joys
of a trek in the countryside with a four legged friend carrying the
luggage, or small children...
Gilou, Nanette, Eliëtte, Bayla and Ayla have had an busy season, Ercan and Lila are learning their trade and Bassie, the youngest, is still in nursery school.
Most people believe a donkey is a burden, but on the
contrary: a well trained donkey is a beast of burden and good company too!
It has a genial character and loves to be stroked and cuddled. You will
soon feel attached to your new friend!
We have mapped out various routes (10 -15 km per day) guiding you to places
of interest in the neighbourhood.
We wouldn’t, of course, send you on your way without proper
instruction on how to feed and care for the well-being of the animal. Your
donkey is equipped with panniers and can carry
40 - 50 kg of luggage for
you.
It is possible to hire a lightweight tent with us.
We offer various excursions:
- half-day and full-day excursions ( 28 € and 40 €)
- star-excursions, 2 days or more* (38 € per day). You return to the
campsite every evening
where you feed and care for the donkey(s). This option is the perfect solution for young
children as their older brother or sister participates in the adventure camp. - 2 or 3 day excursions* (38 € per day). You spend the night either in a tipi or in a chambre d'hôtes.
